People Are Weird: Neither Too Good Nor Too Bad

Humanity is a complex mixture of good and evil, kindness and cruelty, intelligence and ignorance. People are capable of extraordinary acts of kindness and unparalleled evil. We often focus on the extremes, but the truth is, humans exist in the messy middle. We are, as you said, "weird."

Fear of Ghosts? Underestimate Human Nature

We fear ghosts, but we often fail to understand the true depth of human cruelty and potential for destruction. Humans have committed unspeakable atrocities, many of which are far more terrifying and real than any ghost story:

  • Rapes, Murders, Dacoit

  • Man-made viruses, Weapons

  • Torture, Extortion, Kidnapping

  • Weaponizing Biological Things

  • Extermination, Massacres, Human Experiments

  • Organ Trafficking, Corruption, Scams

  • Ethnic Cleansing, Suicide Bombings

  • Terrorism, Wars, Genocides, Holocaust

  • Sextortion, Fraud

These are just a few of the countless examples of human-made suffering that have scarred the world. Ghosts are a figment of the imagination, but humans have consistently turned imagination into reality when it comes to suffering and violence.

The Duality of Human Nature: Good and Bad

Of course, humans are not just evil. People have also created movements of compassion and progress:

  • Fund Donations

  • Liberalism

  • Secularism

  • Tolerance

  • Care for One Another

The problem lies in our hesitation and inaction. We often have the desire to help, but fear, doubt, or selfishness often prevent us from acting. The good is often there, but it’s buried beneath layers of fear, ego, and the complexities of life.

Don’t Trust People as a Group

People as a group can be even more unpredictable. Bandwagon effects lead to collective decisions that are often irrational and dangerous. The masses can be easily swayed, and herd mentality can result in a loss of individual responsibility and moral compass.

People Are Cunning, Mean, and Unpredictable

In the end, humans are inherently unpredictable. Mean, cunning, and sometimes incredibly selfish. They can be incredibly benevolent one moment, then turn cruel the next. This weirdness is what makes us both fascinating and terrifying.

Weirdness Is Our Nature

Humanity is not a tale of extremes, but a narrative woven through complexity. People are capable of anything—good or bad. The lesson? Trust cautiously, question authority, and stay true to your personal ethics. Ultimately, no one can be fully trusted, not even as part of a collective. We must measure every individual by their actions, not by the image they project.

Humans are truly weird—in the best and worst ways.
