NATIONALISM
Nationalism: A Citizen’s Sacred Duty
What is Nationalism?
When you search "nationalism" on Google, you find:
The desire of a group of people (sharing common race, culture, language, etc.) to form an independent country.
A feeling of love, pride, and superiority for one’s own nation. But in my opinion,
Nationalism is not an option; it is a fundamental duty and responsibility.
Our Freedom, Our Heroes
We, Indians, owe our freedom and peaceful lives to the countless sacrifices of our freedom fighters.
Every goosebump we feel during the Indian Army’s parade on 15th August (Independence Day) and 26th January (Republic Day) is a tribute to their sacrifice.
Thousands laid down their lives for us to breathe in free air.
We live in a proud nation called India — our beloved Bharat Mata.
Respect and Responsibility
In my view:
Insulting India is no different from insulting our mother and our martyrs.
A person who betrays India deserves the harshest punishment."Gaddari ki saza maut hai."
(Treason deserves death.)
We love our India deeply.
We may choose to die standing, but we will never live kneeling under foreign rule.
Nationalism in Today's Generation
Sadly, in today's world, especially among my generation:
Nationalism is often mocked as "filmy" or "boring."
We can stand for hours in a stadium line but can’t stand for 52 seconds for the National Anthem in theatres.Though many Indians proudly stand, those who don't should reflect on their duties.
We often ignore national issues, thinking,
"We can't do anything."
But that's wrong.
Democracy and Our Responsibilities
India is the world’s largest democracy.
Democracy means power belongs to the people.
We have the power to vote, but remember:
"With great power comes great responsibility."
(Uncle Ben, Spider-Man)
It’s not only the government's job to bring change —
Change begins with us.
Like Society, Like Leaders.
("Samaj ke badalne se Sarkar aur Desh badalti hai.")
If citizens stay passive, leaders stay passive too.
The True Meaning of Nationalism
Nationalism isn’t just politics or slogans.
It includes:
Education and literacy
Health and medical progress
Economic development
Social welfare
National and internal securityIgnoring problems is ignoring your nation.
Whether an issue occurs in Odisha, Maharashtra, Bihar, or anywhere —
as an Indian, every issue is OUR issue.
Contribution: Big or Small, It Matters
Imagine:
There are over 500 million mobile users in India.
If even 10% (5 crores) of them:
Upload a post
Tweet
Share a video
Write a blog
Put a WhatsApp status...about a national problem, it would shake the system and bring change.
Every contribution matters — no matter how small.
Rights and Duties Go Hand-in-Hand
We pay taxes as responsible citizens.
Thus, we have the right to question the government about the proper use of our taxes.
We must:
Exercise our Fundamental Rights.
Hold leaders accountable.
Stay aware and active.Final Thought: True Patriotism
"Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" — The world is one family.
But let’s be clear:
India is not a Dharamshala where anyone can enter without permission.
We welcome guests with:
"Atithi Devo Bhava" — Guest is God.
But every guest must come legally — with a passport or visa.
Illegal intruders are not guests.
Nation comes first. Always.
